Duty to Report Disclaimer - Mandatory Reporting Requirements for Registered Social Workers
As a Registered Social Worker in several provinces in Canada, I have legal obligations under legislation that supersede confidentiality agreements and am legally required to report suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities. This legal obligation applies in all professional interactions, including but not limited to: Business coaching sessions, Course materials and discussions, Group consultations, Private communications, and Any other professional services provided.
While I maintain strict confidentiality regarding your business and personal information shared during our professional relationship, this confidentiality has legal limits when it comes to child protection matters. If during any of our interactions, I become aware of or suspect: Child abuse, Child neglect, Risk of harm to a child, Any situation where a child's safety may be compromised. I am legally obligated to report this information to the local Children's Aid Society (CAS) or other appropriate child protection authorities, regardless of how this information was obtained.
Under the legislation, I am not required to obtain your consent before making such a report, nor am I required to inform you that a report is being made, although I may choose to discuss this with you when appropriate and safe to do so. Reports made in good faith by professionals are protected under the Act, even if an investigation determines that abuse or neglect did not occur.
By engaging in any professional services with Sarah Binks Consulting, you acknowledge that: You have read and understand this Duty to Report Disclaimer You understand that my professional obligations as a Registered Social Worker may require me to breach confidentiality in circumstances involving suspected child abuse or neglect You understand that these legal obligations supersede any other confidentiality agreements or terms of service You consent to continue with our professional relationship with this understanding
Merger or Acquisition
We reserve the right to share information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any proposed or actual merger, purchase, sale, or any other type of acquisition or business combination of all or any portion of our assets, or transfer of all or a portion of our business to another business.
9. RETAINING YOUR DATA
When you place an order through the Site, we will store your information indefinitely to allow us to keep accurate records of any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
